1959 Antique Radio and TV with Bookcase – Curtis Mathes Imperial Model 1012 This is a beautiful Curtis Mathes Model 1012 Imperial Stereophonic Entertainment System (black & white TV, stereo receiver & bookcase) purchased new by my parents in 1959. The wood is mountain cherry in near mint condition. The AM receiver just quit working a few years ago but the FM, output amplifiers and phonograph circuits work fine as well as all the speakers. It has a great, full sound, just the way I remembered it many years ago. The Mathes TV’s original picture tube was replaced in the mid 60’s. The TV is not working (no picture, no sound but the dial light illuminates). Included are the original phonograph operating instructions, the TV and receiver’s schematics & brochures and the original Detroit area Crown Furniture store newspaper ad with a version of this entertainment set (the very ad which inspired the purchase by my parents).
