Curtis Mathes High Ball Bar Glasses

SET OF 4 VERY COOL RETRO CURTIS MATHES PROMOTIONAL HIGH BALL BAR GLASSES. NEW OLD STOCK IN ORIGINAL BOX. NO CHIPS OR CRACKS WITH GREAT COLOR. GLASSES ARE 3-1/8 X 3-3/8.

Don Draper would approve of this wonderful advertisement move. I would imagine that all the "Mad Men" cast would be drinking from them. I knew many employees of Curtis Mathes did so ... You got the set of four when you bought a stereo or television from the Curtis Mathes Showroom's from the 1960's to the 1980's. In the earl 1960's the sell would not only include the set of glasses but also a nice bottle of your favorite whiskey or scotch. If you were a great customer you got a case of your favorite whiskey or scotch. They stopped doing this in the Bible belt very soon however. Alcoholic beverage distilled from grain may not have been a good thing for a man to come home with with a new stereo or television back then in some areas of the nation. They came in a very nice box which they would gift wrap if the the television or stereo was a gift for a wife or loved one.

A CM Stereo prototype that survived the great Austin Texas factory fire...

A CM Stereo prototype that survived the great Austin Texas factory fire...

Here we have Paul Cortese newly purchased CM Stereo Console it has 2512C as the model, this is one your will not find online. Paul sent us some nice pics to share.

It has a Collaro Conquest turntable a very early 60s model.

It has the superb workmanship in the wood like all the early models of this era from Curtis Mathes.

This stereo is  one of the Holy Grail for a Curtis Mathes Collector, looks like one of the famous missing prototypes that survived the great Austin Texas factory fire that destroyed most of the 1960 line of production.

You will not find this online, only a hand full every made it out of the factory.  A few of these models got to the Showroom floors before the Austin fire ... and the were make with a great chassis, as you can see ...

These parts came out of Provincial console early 1960s model.

These parts came out of Provincial console early 1960s model.

People do this to sell the parts, and turn the beautiful cabinet into a quilt holder ore something.

These parts are  in good working condition. To me it is rather sad to see a model cannibalized this way.

The stereo radio and turntable are in wonderful shape ... Everything works. The only thing missing is one, of the labels on the turn table.

It is rather sad to see this done to a beautiful piece of American history and a masterpiece of art.

The hand made speakers, and the made in Texas chassis are all there, stripped from their  Provincial console cabinet ...

I guess if you need some parts for a model you are restoring this is a wonderful way to find what you are needing ...

But still it make me sad to see a model stripped down like this. Even the vacuum tubes are removed for a easy sell.

They just do not make these beauties anymore, they are masterpieces of American technology and know-how.

So if you have one keep her intact and watch her grow in value over the coming year and don't turn her into a storage unit for blankets.  Let her continue to play sweet music as she was made to do, and be a joy to everyone.

Do not do this to a Curtis Mathes!!!

A Beautiful Curtis Mathes Made in Texas Deluxe High End Model, who put it in a barn?

It needs to be in a living room, hope the moisture has not damaged this masterpiece of American made technically.

Hopefully someone will save her. This is a bad environment for a vintage American made solid state console to be left in ....

Burke Mathes has one like it, and he paid $3,600.00 for his, and it is working today as good as the day it was made in Athens Texas ...

Thank you Michelle Lup for sharing your wonderful photos with us. We are grateful that this Texas made masterpiece from America's golden past is being rescued, and will soon be in a good home again.

Curtis Mathes Early American Designed Stereo 1962 or 63 model.

What a beauty this outstanding model is an Early American model from 1962 or 1963 ... an upscale sister to the 1961 Nantucket.

Much like the Provincial but an Early American design, not French Provencal. Thank you Chuck Klink for sharing your photos with us .. she is a keeper, beautiful cabinetry, and a authentically styled Early American design.

The 1962 Pandora Model, Curtis Mathes Stereo

Posted by Glenn Edward Waters III on June 14, 2014 at 4:25 PM Comments comments (197)

The 1962 Pandora Model, Curtis Mathes Stereo. This expertly made in Texas stereo is a  pocket Battleship of awesome sound. A beautiful modern design CURTIS MATHES stereo console.

This is an all wood cabinet, with a hand wired chassis and this Curtis Mathes stereo has an EL84 stereo tube amp.

Built for one thing and one thing only, to play music the way it should sound.

With hand made in in Texas speakers, that can produce sound like a concert in the park.

With a custom built for Curtis Mathes Turntable, and the sound only a diamond can make.  The hand wired, all tube, deluxe FM / AM High Fidelity system of the Stereophonic Music Center was the best ever made, and is still playing today as great as it did back in 1962.

After the tragic fire at the Austin Texas plant Curtis Mathes wisely turned to using the made in England Collaro Conquest turntables in many of its 1962 models.

They really do have a rich sound just like the earlier made in Texas Curtis Mathes turntable from the Austin Texas plant.

1961 CURTIS MATHES "THE PROVINCIAL" STEREO CONSOLE

CURTIS MATHES "THE PROVINCIAL" STEREO CONSOLE
A 1961 Curtis Mathes Stereo console model the Provincial, that is in excellent cosmetic condition.

The sound is fabulous it has a 3-way speaker system featuring 12" woofers on each side. You can even hook an iPod to it …

It features the 30c amp chassis and uses 4 EL-84/6bq5 output tubes the sound is wonderful.

The record player is the upscale Curtis Mathes design. This unit has an all solid wood real walnut finish.

This is a very elegant console in the French Provincial design. She has a much more spacious cabinet than her smaller sister, "The Burgundy"...

She comes with a turntable and a stereo FM and AM radio, and she has huge speakers and plenty of storage room.

They really put a lot of fine detail into this model.

Hand wired chassis and had made speakers made in Texas by folks who really cared about the finished product.

Only the finest, and  best hard woods went into the cabinet of this model.

The chassis has stood the test of time and works as good today as it did fresh from the assembly line in Texas back in 1961.

It is all in the details, and the expert hand-wiring and design.

1986 Curtis Mathes Color Television Model A2529RC

The 1986 Curtis Mathes Entertainment Center color television with stereo sound. Model A2529RC. Made in Texas by Americans who took pride in their work. This console still works great today in the year 2014. Made in August 1986, at the Athens Texas Plant. With parts made in Irving, Austin, Dallas, and Houston Texas. With a Curtis Mathes made in Texas CRT picture tube model number A63ABP20X.

In the photo below is Grantley Waters showing  the inside of the 1986 Curtis Mathes Entertainment Center color television with stereo sound. Model A2529RC. In the video below is the Made in Texas by Americans who took pride in their work. This console still works great today in the year 2014. Made in August 1986, at the Athens Texas Plant. In the video below the 1986 Curtis Mathes Model A2529RC is playing "The Invaders" from a VHS tape on a Curtis Mathes VCR tape player.gzqpNTS8AIE In the photo below is the inside of the back of the 1986 Curtis Mathes Model A2529RC showing the amazing made in the USA circuit boards, and hardware around the Texas made cathode ray tube for the CRT picture tube model number A63ABP20X.In the photo below Charis Waters is showing the size comparison to a person of the beautifully designed console cabinet  1986 Curtis Mathes Model A2529RC. I remember being on the Design team of this wonderfully made console. So many of these consoles work as good today as they did back in the 1980's.In the photo below show that this Curtis Mathes model A2529RC has a wonderful control panel that was state of the art back in the year 1986, so many of the components for this model came from the same factories in Texas that made circuit-boards for the Saturn V Rocket and military electronic hardware, built to last.In the photo below you can see the detail of this chassis that has a lot of made in America parts. As is stated above many of the components came from the same factories in Texas that made circuit-boards for the Saturn V Rocket and military electronic hardware, built to last.

Which explains why you can still see that in they year 2014 she still is going strong as she did in 1986.The American workmanship has proven itself with the test of time. She as the marvelous Vacation switch in the back, which is the classic Curtis Mathes trade mark of the 1980's era. Built for folks that had Vacation home and could afford to spend more for the best color television made in that era.As Grantley Waters can tell you they don't make them like this anymore. Sadly many of these classics are thrown away and they are still working as good as the day they were made when they are crushed in the trash compactor. Let us keep these American beauties for future generations to appreciate and enjoy. Sadly they don't make Televisions in Texas anymore.  The tag tells it all, made in Texas by  Americans who took pride in their work.

Just ask Grantley Waters, he can tell you this is a well made Texan beauty. We need to save our past on TV at a time ...
